Lucas Owen - Cycling Physiotherapy Centre Director

Lucas Owen

I graduated from Latrobe University as a Physiotherapist in 2001 and have since attained numerous post-graduate certifications, including Dry Needling, Clinical Pilates, Advanced Tendinopathy Management, and the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy for spinal conditions.

I have been an avid on-road and off-road cyclist for over 20 years, commuting on a daily basis and participating in iconic events such as the Audax Alpine Classic and Amy’s Gran Fondo. I gain a lot of satisfaction and enjoyment from my cycling, which means that I also understand the stress and frustration that can result when an injury or pain restricts your cycling comfort or performance.

The treatment that I provide is therefore based on enabling you to return to cycling as soon as possible, and I focus on the use of hands-on therapeutic techniques and exercise rehabilitation, as well as bio-mechanical analysis and rider positioning using the Retul Bike Fitting system and SpinScan power and pedalling analysis.

Cycling Physiotherapy Centre

After establishing Cycling Physiotherapy Centre in 2009, I realised a long held dream in 2012 by opening my own practice, a custom designed facility just 12km from the Melbourne CBD and offering the following features:

  • Private consulting rooms
  • Dedicated bike fitting studio
  • Clinical Pilates room
  • Off-street parking

The practice continues to grow on the background of strong word-of-mouth referrals, and I am committed to establishing lasting relationships with local cycling clubs and coaches.
