As most of you would be aware, core stability has been the flavour of the decade in the field of sports science, and yet most people are not truly aware of what core stability training is aiming to achieve.
Core stability programs for cyclists should focus upon the activation and integration of deep postural muscle activity during all postures and movements, including cycling.

One of the primary effects of muscle tightness (i.e. lack of flexibility) is that it inhibits the ability of opposing muscles to generate force. This will obviously reduce athletic performance, and without a suitable stretching routine people often experience a self-perpetuating cycle of further muscle tightening and weakening.
