Flexibility

Flexibility allows a cyclist to be both powerful and comfortable on their bike, but many people have given up on stretching because it never improved their flexibility or they thought it was only important for professional athletes.

Exercise rehabilitation research has demonstrated that stretching is important and can even aid recovery from exercise. However it has also shown that until you have developed sufficient core stability, stretching alone will often not achieve a lasting increase in your flexibility.

Cycling Physiotherapy Centre will develop an exercise program that targets your specific core stability and flexibility limitations, and that works towards sustainable flexibility improvements that allow you to attain a more efficient and aerodynamic riding position – essential when you consider that wind resistance accounts for 90% of total resistance at speeds above 30 kilometres per hour.

As well as individual consultations, classes are offered in six-week blocks, using a combination of Clinical Pilates equipment and a comprehensive and progressive home-exercise program.
